While the world has rediscovered the mystic of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac through the Netflix series, “Daisy Jones and The Six” (based on an AMAZING book of the same name), I’ve been a fan since I could download my own songs.

There is something about the way Stevie Nicks crafts lyrics that has each line engraved on my heart. I’m not just talking about “Rhiannon”, “Dreams”, “Say You Will”, and “Gypsy”.

Look at the lyrics of “Gold Dust Woman” and you can feel her journey through addiction.

Then, there is “Landslide”.

Released in 1975, it was written as Stevie contemplated her relationships with Lindsay Buckingham and her father. It speaks to anyone at a crossroads of major life choices. The wrong path can bring with it hard lessons, but is there such a thing as a wrong path? (Read In Her Own Words).

If Stevie Nicks knew back in the 1970s what the path with Lindsay and Fleetwood Mac would bring, and what she’d have to give up, would she still take the path? I think, yes.

As a poet, her words would need an outlet whether she was able to bring them to the world…
